Apple's September 9 event kicks off a two-year run of new hardware, from the first foldable iPhone to OLED Macs and a Siri-flavored Home Hub.
Following Apple’s surprise drop of four new M-series chips and two new Mac models earlier this week, the 2026 Mac Studio and Mac mini respectively, we thought it was worth taking a look at what’s coming down the pipe from Cupertino as it embraces the John Ternus era.
Invites have now gone out for the traditional September reveal event, taking place at Apple Park on September 9 at 17:00 UTC. The tagline this year reads ‘Surprise and Shine’ and the invite features a slightly blurry, glowing Apple logo with the sun shining through it.
Here’s everything that we think will be announced at the event and in the (checks watch) two years to come.
Surprise and Shine event

- iOS 27 and the next major macOS release (Golden Gate) due for release
- iPhone 18 Pro: A20 Pro chip, smaller Dynamic Island, simplified Camera Control, a “Dark Cherry” colour option.
- iPhone 18 Pro Max: same as above, reportedly with an exclusive variable-aperture camera, larger battery, and a slightly thicker body.
- iPhone Ultra: Apple’s first foldable iPhone, with a 7.7-inch inner display and 5.3-inch outer display; Touch ID in the power button rather than reliance on Face ID
- Apple Watch Series 12: faster S11 chip, longer battery life, fitness tracking updates, a ceramic case option.
- Apple Watch Ultra 4: faster processor, fitness improvements, expanded satellite features (Maps via satellite, photo sharing over Messages).
- AirPods 5: two variants, one with active noise cancellation and one without.
Possible
- HomePod Mini 2: the first update to the compact speaker since 2020, expected alongside the iPhone launch. Code found in macOS 26.7 points to a new “Argentium” chip inside
- AirPods with built-in cameras (though these may slip)
Fall 2026
- 14-inch MacBook Pro: updated with M6 chip
- 24-inch iMac: M6 chip update, no design changes. Potential for this to be M5 only

New from the macOS 26.7 beta code
MacRumors dug these device references out of code strings in the latest macOS 26.7 beta. Model numbers are real, but release windows are not yet known for most of them.
- iPad mini: next generation expected to gain an OLED display and A19 Pro chip (adds detail to the "iPad mini, 2026" entry above).
- AirPods Pro 4: referenced in code (AirPodsPro1,4 / AirPod3,5).
- Beats headphones: two new models (B518, B522).
- Home Accessory (J229): a sensor-equipped device described as capable of alarm detection and imaging; new colorways (Rose Pink, Silver, Space Gray, Starlight) referenced alongside it.
- HomeAccessory (J595): described as a "tabletop robot."
- Headset (N109): could be either a Vision Pro 2 or a cheaper Vision variant.
- Apple TV Remote: an updated remote.
Spring 2027
- iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2: the standard iPhone 18 line is held back from the fall and released in spring 2027 instead.
- 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air: M6 chip refresh.
- Entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro: M7 chip with a design overhaul, but no OLED display.
2027 (uncertain timing)
- MacBook Neo 2: updated with an A19 Pro chip, more memory, and possibly new colours.
- iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max: next-generation Pro models.
Fall 2027 (even more speculative)
- 20th-anniversary iPhone: rumored higher-end device; not confirmed. May overlap with, or be the same device as, the "iPhone 20 Pro" above [20 years? Bloody hell. Ed.]

- Apple Glasses: Apple's first smart glasses
