AJA's new FS8 frame sync bridges SDI and IP workflows, handling up to eight HD or four UltraHD channels. It's debuting at IBC2026, priced at $14,995.
AJA Video Systems is introducing the new FS8 at IBC, a 1RU video and audio processor that bridges SDI and IP infrastructure for broadcast, production, and proAV. Building on AJA's FS frame sync line, the FS8 is the company's first frame sync to support SMPTE ST 2110, handling up to eight channels of HD or four channels of UltraHD frame sync, conversion, and IP gateway functionality.
Connectivity is robust and includes up to 16x 12G-SDI inputs over coax and fiber, and 8x HD or 4x UHD ST 2110-20 inputs with ST 2022-7 redundancy. Audio support is equally fully-featured and spans embedded SDI, ST 2110-30, Dante, and MADI, feeding a 459x448 mono audio matrix with routing, conversion, level adjustment, delay, and sample rate conversion on every input and output.
Video delay is configurable up to 60 frames in HD and 30 frames in UltraHD, with up to 2.5 seconds of audio delay. An ultra-low latency mode brings processing under half a video frame for live applications.
As you would expect from AJA, there’s plenty of attention paid to color. Color handling includes NBCU, User 3D LUT, and Dynamic LUT modes as standard, with licensable Colorfront Engine and BBC HLG LUT modes available. Each video processor carries a 33-point 3D LUT with tetrahedral interpolation. Other processing features include UltraHD region of interest scaling and positioning, motion-adaptive deinterlacing, up/down/cross conversion, configurable HDR metadata for SDI VPID and ST 2110 SDP, and ancillary data grooming.
Control runs through a browser-based, node-style web UI with video preview, audio meters, and preset recall at both system and component level, or through a public RESTful API described by OpenAPI, which AJA says third parties including Cyanview, Pomfort, and Skaarhoj are building integrations for. The unit's front-panel color LCD shows moving video and audio meters alongside input, output, and processor status.
FS8 will be available soon through AJA's reseller network at $14,995, with optional Colorfront Engine and BBC HLG LUT licenses at $1,995 and $295 respectively. It comes with AJA's five-year warranty and no subscription fees for core functionality.
