Adobe Launches 'Unfinished Film' Project - and Wants You to Finish It

Adobe has cooked up an interesting new angle to showcase the power of its Firefly creative genAI tool by giving users an unfinished film and encouraging them to remix it, reshape it, and share it.

The Unfinished Film is just that, just over 100 seconds of loosely connected footage put together by filmmaker Sam Finn that Adobe is inviting you to finish.

"This is an unfinished film," states Finn. "You can take over as Director if you like. There are some scenes missing, but that's so you can try out some of your ideas. What are these guys running from? It is zombies? It is the cops? Or are they trying to save someone? Literally anything is possible."

The idea is that you download the footage and then add the missing elements (or create your own, or change the tone, or take it in a different direction entirely) using Adobe Firefly. Certainly the four examples that Adobe has chosen from different filmmakers to illustrate what it's talking about in a blog post on the subject are all very different. There's everything from claymation models to transformer cars in there.

Phil Cohen did the version above. "We’re entering a new era where imagination doesn’t have to wait on budget or big teams," he says. "With tools like Firefly, designers can direct, photographers can animate—creativity becomes immediate and accessible. This project is a glimpse of whatproject is a glimpse of what’s next."
