There's a lot of information to take in here with these new Sony cameras and all the stuff that goes with them. We've just been to the European launch and things are a little clearer.

 Cheaper, cinematic cameras come with a cost - they tend to have Rolling Shutters, which means that rapid movement can be skewed. In the next few months, you'll be able to buy cameras with Global Shutters at all price points. This can't come soon enough, according to Phil Rhodes

We understand that Sony's prices for the F5 and F55 cameras will be released on Tuesday 27th November. This eagerly awaited announcement has the potential to reshape the digital cinematography landscape

 Last Sunday a Lionel Messi hat-trick helped Barcelona to a remarkable 3-4 victory over Real Madrid 3-4 away at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. And this time Messi's footballing genius was captured for posterity in full 4K glory.

We were a little bit underwhelmed when we saw the first footage from the F55, not because there's anything wrong with the camera - far from it;  but because it was shot incredibly flat, and we kind of expected something a bit more eye-catching than that. The whole experience set us off on what was essentially a rant about how you shouldn't use YouTube or Vimeo to judge the quality of a camera
