Canon 1Dc: Where does it fit now?

Published in Production

The Canon 1DC is a curious camera. Based on a top-end DSLR design, with essentially only some additional firmware it becomes a 4K camcorder as well. The Seiki 4K set for under $1300 is in the shops and apparently selling well to early adopters who shrug off the unavailability of 4K material. But is it any good? The first in-depth reviews are out

Canon EOS 5D mk III + new firmware + Atomos Ninja 2

Published in Production

When the first external recorders for DSLRs came out in 2011, there was a drawback: they didn't work with DSLRs! Now, slowly, that is changing, but the 5D mk III is the big one and now, with its newly released firmware, a clean HDMI output is available to record externally
